Hello All! I am a dental assistant and I teach dental assisting at a technical college. I started this channel to provide videos for my students and thought these videos could help any aspiring dental assistant! Let me know if you have anything you'd like to see - I'm limited with the supplies and equipment I have, but if I have it, I'd be happy to help you learn!
Rinses Skill with HVE Positioning
How to position your HVE and perform limited and comprehensive patient rinses.
This video was created to show my students how to perform their rinsing skill in lab - so when you hear me reference "for your skill" that is what it is referring to.
With real patients, the comprehensive rinse at the end of the procedure is very quick and you'll often give your patient a cup with mouthwash to aid in debris removal. I used toothpaste to simulate debris so it was a little sticky and more challenging to remove.

Pouring Stone Study Models
Переглядів 21 тис.3 роки тому
Demonstration on pouring stone dental models using rubber molds. I always have trouble with these rubber molds and bubbles. You'll see a few small bubbles on these models, but it won't affect the study model. When you pour up alginate or VPS material, you won't get bubbles as long as you use the correct pouring technique.

Looking great. Plz subscribe if you are interested to watch our instruments videos further.
Another tip: oftentimes the contacts will be super tight and you can't fit the matrix around the tooth. Use a Gregg 4-5 to open the contact and it slides right on.
Thanks
Please give the idea how to remember instrument by name all are looking almost same
I have a practical exam and nervous as hell
Take a deep breath, you’ll be fine! Good luck!
Is this class 2 tray set up?
Yes it is! It has the Tofflemire/universal matrix for a class 2 amalgam restoration.
Very clear and concise! Cant wait to try it.. thank you!
Great video! I would like to ask - why do the nurses have to completely rinse the mouth at the end of the procedure (obviously we get rid of the debris but we always have mouth ready for the patient to rinse)? We do things so differently in my practice (UK). This method seems like it would quite stressful to the patient, I know it would be for me anyways.
Definitely, patient preference! Many of my patients preferred to rinse with mouth wash themselves and spit. Others really like the full-service aspect of having every bit rinsed out.
Thank you for the explanation.. is help me very well to remember the steps .. I'm Spanish speaker person, and I was a very hard for me to understand at school but you are very great explaining by steps so thank you soooo much
Glad it was helpful!
We want new videos from you madam
Why you didn't separate the mirror head before sterilization?
I've never separated the mirror head before sterilization.
For pouches what is the correct way to place pouches in sterilizer? Paper Side up or down?
In this particular sterilizer - it should be plastic side up! Another commenter mentioned I had them upsidedown. It will depend of the sterilizer.
Assistants do over filling or dentist do
It depends on the state dental practice act. Assistants can usually place temporary fillings in any state. In some states assistants received special training to place permanent fillings (amalgam or composite), otherwise only the dentist can place permanent fillings.
Thank you so much. It's so useful and practical. Thanks for your precious time and explaining all in one perfectly.
You're very welcome!

Bien Air electric handpicks have anti retraction valves built into the handpiece!
Do you need to place a chemical strip inside the "Duocheck" pouch?
No strip is needed inside the pouches that already have an internal indicator on the pouch.
How to understand low speed and high speed suction
Do you dry after the bond?
Depends on the system. This particular one, after placing bonding, blow air gently to thin it out, then light cure for 10 seconds (depending on light intensity).

Thank you!
Great video... can I use the same method and material to do a lower gum impression?
Yes you can! The tray is shaped difference - its a "U" shape for the mandibular arch.
very helpful thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Why did you put the carver before the burnisher? Shouldn’t we put the ball burnisher first in order to smooth the amalgam then we put the carver to carve anatomy. Just curious ???
Good question. I think it’s Dr. preference. I initially worked for 6yrs with a doctor who carved first. When I moved to a different state, the new doctors used the burnisher first. They burnished, carved, and burnished again.
You are amazing, Thanks 🙏
You’re amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks for watching!

I just learned all these tools today and I was yelling them out as you got them for memorization 😭💀

What evac cleaner do you use
Currently, Purevac, but over the years I've probably used dozens of different cleaners.
